2022 Classes
Christmas Tree Santa or Classic 2 Sided Santa.
Early November – 4 weeks, one day a week.
Last year, we did our first Santa. It was both fun and challenging. We are back again, with the newest Santa in Melissa Shirley’s line up. Christmas Tree Santa. This class can be done in person or via Zoom. All classes are recorded. However, we know a lot of people have asked about Classic Santa so we are bringing him back. Class size is limited.

Fun Little Mini Socks
December 1st, 2nd, 6th, 11, 13 or 15th. Class will be about an hour
to an hour and a half and it begins at 1PM.
Come joins us as we stitch these wonderful little mini socks.
You will have several colors to choose from and each sock
comes with a different stitch guide and threads. If you are not
local, we can work with that as well.
You will be surprised at how they stitch up.
With so many dates choose to come to one or all.
Cost of the Kit is $99.00 Class time is free.

Mark is back in 2023 with lots of classes to choose from. His classes range from 2.5 hours to 4 hours in length. The knowledge you learn is immeasurable.

AN INTRODUCTION TO SILK RIBBON EMROIDERY – This is a project based class that uses ribbon to create silk flowers for your canvas. We will learn to make French Knots, Colonial Knots, French Knots on a Stalk, Woven Spider, Woven Wheel, Ribbon Stitch, Lazy Daisy, Cabbage Rose, Pd Stitch, Chain Stitch, Outline Stitch and others to create a garden on top of your initial.

TURKEY LURKEY TIME!
Learn the Ins and Outs of Turkey Work, from stitching to trimming. Get in some practice on Traditional Turkey Work, Jump Through The Loop Turkey Work, to . Basketweave Turkey Work. A great stitch for fur and hair as well as bath mats for the rich!

BEADING TECHNIQUES
Want to improve on your current beading methods? Would you like to learn more about ideas and techniques for attaching beads to your canvas? What threads to use and how they affect the colour of you beads? This four hour class is for you! We will cover simple bead attachments such as basketweave and reverse basketweave, in line beading, couching bead strands, brick beading, bead cascades, “messy” beading, etc. We will learn about stitches that can incorporate beads and the best ways to attach them to match the stitch. We will also cover proper methods for attaching gems, sequins, decorative beads and even jewelry to the canvas. Finally, we will talk about the variety of beading needles and threads that are on the market.

Winter Boots Project
Class 9:30-4 on Saturday and 9:30- 2 on Sunday – Lunch is included.
– We know that March brings us wanting Winter to be over but this project is way too sweet to call Winter quits. Who can resist this lovely canvas by Susan B. Wallace for Cooper Oaks Designs. Come join Mark as we stitch this beauty up with decorative stitches to enhance the beauty of this piece.
The piece is 8 x 8 and 18 count. Class Size is limited. Cost will include class, canvas, stitch guide and threads.

ALL THAT JAZZ – An exploration of tricky stitches that can enhance our canvases as discovered and outline by Jean Hilton. Learn the Jessica, Layered Jessicas, Rhodes, Leviathan, Crescents, Chain Stitch, Amadeus, Mozart, Fans, Walnettos and many others. This class is for the Intermediate Student who feels comfortable with basic stitches and with counting threads. Learn how to stitch these beautiful techniques and how to use them to embellish your canvases.

KNOT’S AHOY! – Untie the difficulties of making knotted stitches for your canvas embellishments. We begin with a review of French Knots, Double French and Triple French Knots – these are not to be feared! We move on to cover French Knots on a Stalk, Needle Weaving, Detached Picots, Chinese Knots, Slide Knots, Sorbello Knot, Palestrina Knots, Slide Bouillon Knots, FOOLPROOF Bouillon Knots and Turkey Work

March 7th
Needlepoint Basics (3 hours)
Not just for beginners. Yes, we will go over basics but we also answer a lot of tricky questions such as “why does my basketweave look “stripey?” and more.
The end goal is that everyone who leaves the class feels confident to complete a basic to advanced basic project.

Beginning Decorative Stitches (3 hours):
This course covers the techniques of several straight and diagonal stitches, beginning with what needle size to use on each canvas mesh for the different types of stitches (i.e. straight or diagonal).
June 15th
Focusing on the elements – Part I.
Themed classes that focus on threads and the technique with threads in particular elements common painted canvases. Each class, highlights stitches appropriate for the theme and then focus on the qualities and characteristics most helpful in achieving the "look" of the stitch.

Beading Techniques (4 hours total)
The first portion of the workshop covers foundational aspects to beading, including Beads 101 (what they are made out of, sizes, finishing, etc), threads, needles, and the most common beading technique, such as tent, reverse tent, brick, cross stitch, and upright cross. The second portion includes walking through a stitch guide for a pre-selected canvas that includes both stitching and beading.
